Clint Blackburn had the hot hand for the Wildcats in the first half as he poured in 19. He sizzled from the floor going 7 of 9 including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. As a team, Bethel shot 53% from the floor. Bethel played tough defense, limiting SCP’s filed goal percentage to 29% in the first half. The Wildcats also won on the boards, 20-13. Brennen Ward also dished off six assists in the first frame. Blackburn’s three with :15 to go gave Bethel their largest lead of the game going into the break, 40-17.
The Wildcats continued to outpace SCP, scoring 19 fast break points. Derek Demaree led Bethel’s scoring in the second half with nine points. Leon Sewell and Brian French also got in the scoring act dropping in seven each. Deonte Carlisle was 3 of 4 in the second for six points, but added four steals. Bethel didn’t shoot as well in the second hitting 42% of their shots as they cruised to the 83-54 victory.
