McKenzie, Tenn. (08.13.10)-Former Mississippi Valley State University and Memphis East High School star, Antonio Beard is the latest addition to the Bethel University Track & Field squad.
The Long Jumper was a three letterman in football and track at East. He was All-Shelby County Metro in both sports.
The Physical Education and Special Education major is the son of Deirdre Garner of Memphis.
He had a long jump of 25'7 while at East.
He lists his will to win as a huge strength. Becoming stronger in his core is an area he hopes to improve.
He chose Bethel because he wanted to be closer to home so his family and friends could watch him compete.
Bethel Coach David Duncan commented, "Antonio has worked in the Madison County School System for the last several years and he will bring a great deal of maturity to the squad. We are happy to welcome him to the program and school.
