Fifth Game Ends in Controversy as Lady Wildcats Lose Heartbreaker

It appeared the Lady Wildcats had won their season opening match against Bryan College Monday night. In a split second that changed when an official ruled because the ball struck the basketball rim, the winning point was disallowed.

Instead of winning 15-13 in the decisive game, the Lady Cats were to eventually lose 16-14.

It was a hard fought match before a huge crowd and one filled with comebacks by both squads. Bethel took the first game 25-22. Bryan came back to win the next two games 26-24, and 25-17. The Lady Cats won the fourth game 25-18 which set up the final game won by Bryan.
Bethel Coach Starla Cupples commented after the tough loss. " We had a tough break there at the end but we had our chances. I was proud of our effort. We have to learn from a tough loss like this and move on. Our kids are looking forward to the tough schedule at Trevecca next week."
