MCKENZIE, Tenn. (11.1.2010) - The Bethel Wildcats in-line hockey team will host their first ever game in McKenzie at the new Bethel Hockey Complex. The game will take place Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 2:30 pm against the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders as part of Bethel University's Homecoming activities. Bethel's new in-line hockey rink is located at 15440 Highland and is in the former frame shop of the New Generations Furniture building.
"I'm thrilled to be hosting this game," said Head Coach Matt Swinea. "This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the team to the Bethel and McKenzie communities. I think it will be an exciting day as McKenzie becomes a true ‘hockey' town."
"Of course, this could not have been accomplished without the help of President Prosser, Walter Butler, Steve Prosser, Keith Priestley, Glenn Hayes, Ty Butler and Phil Campbell," added Swinea. "The actual rink building was a great collaborative effort by the hockey team, Bethel's athletic field and building maintenance crew and the cheerleading team."
The Wildcats went 2-2 in their first games of the season and will be on the road for their next four games beginning on Saturday, November 13, 2010. The games will be in Columbia, SC. Bethel will play on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 1:00pm vs. East Carolina (DII) and 7:00pm vs. North Carolina State (DI). On Sunday, Nov. 14, the ‘Cats play at 7:00am vs. Coastal Carolina (AFF) and 12:00pm vs. George Mason (DI)
