
MCKENZIE, Tenn. (January 31, 2008)-The Bethel College Lady Wildcats defeated Blue Mountain College (Miss.), 80-64, in Thursday night’s TranSouth game. The Lady Wildcats improve to 10-10 (5-4) on the season.
The Lady Wildcats started the game icy from the field. They connected on just 12 of 40 for 30% shooting in the half. The Lady Wildcats took 10 shots from behind the arc, missing all ten. Bethel visited the charity stripe 14 times in the half and made just eight shots for 57%. The Lady Wildcats took the lead into the half-time break, 32-28.
Bethel started the second half, much like the first, slow. They soon picked up the pace and their shooting percentage, finishing the half, shooting 58% from the field. The Lady Wildcats took control of the game with just under 7:00 to play when they extended their lead to 12 points, 65-53. By the final tic, the Lady Wildcats sealed the win, 80-64. Bethel finished the contest with 42.3% shooting from the field and just 17.6% from behind the arc. The Lady Wildcats made 17 of 28 shots from the free throw line for the game.
Five Lady Wildcats scored in double-digits with two finishing with double-doubles. Senior Erin Meyer (Memphis, TN) lead the way with 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Nina Djokovic (SO/Belgrade, Serbia) finished with a double-double with 15 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Jelena Budimir (JR/Belgrade, Serbia) also added a double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, and one assist. Freshman Teena Carter (Milan, TN) added 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Anna Trull (FR/McKenzie, TN) finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Senior Lauren Herrera (Dickson, TN) added six assists.
