
MCKENZIE, Tenn. (February 7, 2008)-The Bethel College Lady Wildcats defeated Martin Methodist College (Tenn.) on Thursday night, 74-62 to improve to 11-11 (6-5) on the season. Martin Methodist falls to 13-11 (5-6).
The Lady Wildcats trailed early in the half, but by the half-time break, they led by six, 26-20. Bethel connected on just 29% of shots from the field and missed all three attempts from behind the arc. From the charity stripe, the Lady Wildcats went eight of 14 for 57%.
Bethel took the lead into the second stanza, but did not hold on to it. By 15:15, Martin Methodist led by two, 33-31. The Lady Wildcats rallied by 7:15 to take the lead, 49-48. The Lady Wildcats continued forward to take the win, 74-62. The second-half shooting effort improved from the first, but not by much. The Lady Wildcats sank just 11 of 29 from the field for 37.9% and finished the game shooting 33.3%. Bethel made just three three-point baskets for the half for 60% shooting and finished the game at 37.5%. The Lady Wildcats shot 71.9% from the free throw line in the half and made 31 of 46 for the game.
The Lady Wildcats were led in scoring by Tristan Johnson (SO/Bolivar, TN) with 19 points, three steals, and one rebound. Nina Djokovic (SO/Belgrade, Serbia) followed with her ninth double-double of the season with 16 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. Jenna Roney (JR/Union City, TN) added 10 points and three rebounds. Erin Meyer (SR/Memphis, TN) finished with nine points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and one block. Jelena Budimir (JR/Belgrade, Serbia) added nine points and 10 rebounds. Lauren Herrera (SR/Dickson, TN) finished with eight points and six assists.
