JACKSON, Tenn. (February 9, 2008) – The Bethel Wildcats never were able to get on track at Lambuth University and the Eagles took advantage winning 92-65. The Wildcats had problems keeping a handle on the ball committing 33 turnovers in the loss.
Bethel got off to a cold start in the first half and was never able to recover. The ‘Cats only pulled 27 shots in the first and shot only 2 of 9 from behind the arc. Lambuth conversely, shot 8 of 13 threes (62%). Bethel didn’t fair much better form the charity stripe hitting 3 of 7. What is added up to was a 31-47 Lambuth halftime lead.
The second half wasn’t much better for the Wildcats. They only made 9 buckets on 22 shots, never attempted a three and were 16 of 26 at the foul line. Lambuth wasn’t lighting it up in the second half either, but the first half damage was too much for Bethel to overcome.
The one bright spot the Wildcats can reflect on was the work of Antione Lesesene. Lesesene scored 29 points, had 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and three blocks. Derek Demaree added nine points and four rebounds. Hrvoje Devcic had eight points.
