MCKENZIE, Tenn. (February 11, 2008)-The Bethel College Lady Wildcats defeated Mid-Continent University (Ky.) in Monday night’s TranSouth match-up, 88-42. The Lady Wildcats improve to 12-12 (7-6) as Mid-Continent falls to 8-16 (0-12).

The Bethel College Lady Wildcats trailed early as the Cougars scored the first basket. The Lady Wildcats answered with a two-pointer. Mid-Continent countered with another three-point basket and the Lady Wildcats trailed 2-6. Bethel picked up the defense and poured on the points in the last 15:00 of play to take the half-time recess up, 55-28.

The Lady Wildcats picked up right where they left the game starting the second half. Bethel continued to push the ball and allowed Mid-Continent just 14 points in the half. All Lady Wildcats scored as Bethel went on to win it, 88-42.

Bethel College connected on 33 of 58 shots from the field for 56.9%. The Lady Wildcats finished the game shooting 57% from behind the arc, sinking eight of 14. From the free throw line, the Lady Wildcats finished 14 of 16 for 87.5% for the game.

The Lady Wildcats were led by Jelena Budimir (Belgrade, Serbia) with her fourth double-double on the season with 18 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, and one block. Anna Trull (FR/McKenzie, TN) added 16 points and four rebounds. Tristan Johnson (SO/Bolivar, TN) finished the game with 11 points, three assists, three steals, and two rebounds. Freshman Teena Carter (Milan, TN) added nine points, six rebounds, and four steals. Lauren Herrera (SR/Dickson, TN), Erin Meyer (SR/Memphis, TN), and Nina Djokovic (SO/Belgrade, Serbia) all added four assists each.

The Lady Wildcats will travel to Nashville, TN to take on #18 Trevecca Nazarene University on Thursday, February 14th at 6PM.
