NASHVILLE (February 14, 2008)-The Bethel College Lady Wildcats were defeated by Trevecca Nazarene University, 52-67, in Thursday night’s TranSouth contest. The Lady Wildcats fall to 12-13 (7-7) as Trevecca Nazarene University improves to 14-9 (8-5) on the season.

Both teams started the game in a slump as the game see sawed in the first few minutes of play. The Lady Wildcats went to the charity stripe just one time in the first half as Trevecca saw the free throw line ten. The Lady Wildcats were down 22-33 at the half-time break.

The Trojans continued to march forward in the second half. With just under the ten minutes to play, the Lady Wildcats made a push and cut the margin to two points, 43-45. Bethel could not gain the lead and went on to take the loss, 52-67.

The Lady Wildcats made just 30.8% of shots from the field for the game compared to Trevecca’s 38.5% from the field. Bethel connected on five of 23 shots from behind the arc for 21.7%. For the game, the Lady Wildcats shot just nine free throws and made seven as Trevecca saw the free throw line 27 times making 26 shots. Bethel allowed 20 points off of their 21 turnovers in the contest.

The Lady Wildcats were led in scoring by Lauren Herrera (SR/Dickson, TN) and Jenna Roney (JR/Union City, TN) with nine points each. Herrera added five rebounds and two assists. Roney added five rebounds, two blocks, and one steal. Erin Meyer (SR/Memphis, TN) finished with eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Freshman Teena Carter (Milan, TN) had seven points, eight rebounds, one block, and one steal. Jelena Budimir (JR/Belgrade, Serbia) finished with seven points, two rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal. Tristan Johnson (SO/Bolivar, TN) had seven points and two assists.

The Bethel College Lady Wildcats will travel to Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN to take on the Lady Lions on Saturday, February 16th at 2PM.
