
Dickson, Tenn. -The Bethel Lady Wildcats captured the TranSouth Conference Golf title Tuesday at Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, Tenn. The Lady Cats shot (333-331) to win by a whopping 24 stokes over second place Cumberland University. It was Bethel's second consecutive conference championship.
Bethel's Erica Yarbro finished in a tie for second place shooting (79-84). Amelia Ray finished in a tie for fourth shooting (82-86).Emily Muse finished sixth shooting (87-82). Ballie Johnson fired a two day score of 170, shooting (91-79). Jessica Maness shot (85, 87) and finished eighth.
Yarbro, Muse, and Ray were named to the TranSouth Conference All-Tournament team. Ray was voted Freshman of the Year. Muse was an all-conference selection all four years at Bethel.
Bethel Coach Monte Cunningham won the conference coach of the year award for the second straight year.
Coach Cunningham was thrilled with his team and their effort. " It was a tough year with injuries and we did not play at the top of our game in some of the big tournaments this year but I felt all season we were an excellent squad and our young ladies proved that this week." Cunningham added, "I want to tip my cap to Cumberland and Trevecca. We are all close all year. Our conference deserves much more national attention than it receives. I am so proud of our ladies and assistant Coach Tyler Faulkner.Everybody contributed to the title, and we expect to have a bright future."
