
Neither team shot particularily well in the first half, Bethel was 8 of 25 (32%) and Lyon was 10 of 31 (32%). They also could never really pull away from each other and put together any sustained runs. Both teams led the first half three times and the largest lead that either team could get was six.
After trailing by three at the break, Bethel quickly found themselves behind by seven. But, the ‘Cats went on a 10-0 run to take a two point lead with 12:11 remaining. The Scots came back and took a 10 point lead with 4:03 remaining, but it wasn’t for long. The Wildcats would score the next ten points, a couple of threes, one by Brian French, one by Clint Blackburn and a couple of deuces by French and Blackburn and the game was tied with :05 left. But, the Scots Trey Salley hit one of his free throws for a one point lead. LeRoy Bell was able to penetrate the lane as time expired but his shot attempt went off the iron as the buzzer sounded.
Before the game, Bethel honored the four seniors from this year’s team, Clint Blackburn (Greenfield, Tenn.), Derek Demaree (Dexter, MO), Hrvoje Devcic (Zagreb, Croatia) and Leon Sewell (Abbeville, Ala.).
Antione Lesesene led the Wildcats with 25 points and sixteen rebounds. He scored 17 and pulled 10 of his boards in the second half. Blackburn had 14 points, two assists and two steals. French had 10 points, six boards, one block and one steal.
