BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. (March 1, 2008)-The Bethel College Lady Wildcats defeated Blue Mountain College, 75-64, in the final TranSouth game of the regular season. The Lady Wildcats improve to 14-15 (9-9) as the Lady Toppers fall to 5-24 (1-17).

The score remained zero-zero in the first two minutes of play. By 14:55, Bethel led Blue Mountain eight to five. At 10:15, the Lady Wildcats trailed by six, 12-18. Bethel took a six-point lead into the half-time break, 36-30.

More of the same for the second-half as the game had several lead changes. Bethel led by six points at 18:47. By 15:05, the Lady Wildcats were down two, 40-42. The score was knotted at 45 with just over 13:00 to play. With 4:13 to go, the Lady Wildcats held a seven-point lead, 69-62. Bethel held on to that lead down the stretch and added four more points to take the 11-point win, 75-64.

The Bethel College Lady Wildcats shot just 34% from the field connecting on 23 of 67. The Lady Wildcats finished just four of 22 shots from behind the arc for 18% shooting for the game. From the charity stripe, Bethel made 25 of 43 for a dismal 58%.

The Lady Wildcats were led in scoring by Nina Djokovic (SO/Belgrade, Serbia) with 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal. Freshman Anna Trull (McKenzie, TN) followed with 14 points, six rebounds, and one steal. Teena Carter (FR/Milan, TN) added 12 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, and one steal to the win. Jenna Roney (JR/Union City, TN) rounded out the top scorers with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Bethel College Lady Wildcats earned a fifth place seed going into the conference tournament. The Lady Wildcats will travel to fourth seed Trevecca Nazarene University for a re-match of last season’s TranSouth quarterfinal game. Game time is set for 7PM on Wednesday, March 5th in Nashville, TN.
