MCKENZIE, Tenn. (8.16.2011) - Kekoa Latimore a defenseman from Chula Vista, Calif. has signed to play with the Bethel University In-line Hockey team. Latimore played for Jr. Team USA In-line this past summer in Italy, capturing the silver medal. He is the son of Agnes Latimore.
"Kekoa is going to help us sure up our defense," said Bethel In-line Hockey Coach Matt Swinea. "He has played hockey at a high level, understands the game and has the determination to make himself and the team better. He is very fast, but controlled and knows what to do with the puck. Kekoa also has a great personality that fits well with our team."
Latimore was a three-year letterman at Hilltop High School's In-line team. He was a member of the Chula Vista Hawks for eight years, the Labeda XDH 18u and the Reebok Jr. Ducks 18u teams. He was named the best newcomer his freshman year and top scorer in the Western In-line Hockey Association tournament. The past summer he also was the faster skater at NARCh in the Midget Platinum division. Besides playing for Jr. Team USA, Latimore views winning the Tour Pacific National Championship in overtime one of his highlights.
Latimore has been a part of several successful teams. He won back-to-back championships with his high school and Jr. Ducks teams; won the Western In-line Hockey Association tournament; Midget Gold NARCh Winter National Championship; and AAU Nationals Midget AA/AAA Championship.
Latimore hopes to one day make the Senior Men's Team USA In-line team and to complete his college degree. He feels that Bethel is the place that can help him achieve both goals. He plans on majoring in Business.
