That forced Akinfloarin Sessi into action and he responded with 12 good minutes. Bethel played with intensity and tied the game on Sessi’s basket at 10:37. That would be a close at the game would get. The Lions started to pull away and went up by as many as 13 with 2:12 left in the half. FHU shot 48% from the floor compare to Bethel’s 37%. The Lions also got the charity stripe six more times and made them count going 12 of 14 from the line. The Wildcats had eight opportunities and connected on five.
Down 30-41 after one, Bethel scrapped back into the mix. But, they had to do it without Lesesene who picked put his fourth foul with 18:01 remaining in the contest. That is where Sessi and LeRoy Bell picked up the ‘Cats. Bell scored 12 in the half and Sessi dropped in nine. But, it wasn’t enough as Freed shot 61% in the second frame. The Lions also got the line 25 time hitting 20 (80%). The ‘Cats got to within nine points with 5:42 left, but FHU went on a 6-0 run and effectively put the game out of reach.
Bell led the Wildcats offense with 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Sessi scored 13 with four boards, one assist, one block and one steal. Senior Clint Blackburn scored 12 and added two steals. Also playing in his last game as a Wildcat, Derek Demaree dropped in nine with one rebound, two assists and one steal. Octavious Thompson scored six with two rebounds, one block and one steal.
