NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 5, 2008)- The fifth seed Bethel College Lady Wildcats were defeated by fourth seed Trevecca Nazarene University, 53-69, in last night’s TranSouth Conference Tournament quarter-final game. The Lady Wildcats end the season at 14-16 while Trevecca improves to 19-10 on the season.

The Lady Wildcats trailed early, down 2-5 by 17:13. Bethel cut the Trevecca lead to one point with 14:00 to go in the first half, 8-9. The Lady Wildcats saw a 10-point deficit with 5:39 to play and by half-time were down 17-32. The Lady Wildcats connected on just 24% of shots from the field and 30.8% from the three-point line. Bethel went one for two from the charity stripe in the half.

The Lady Wildcats cut the deficit to nine points with 16:11 to go, 25-34. With 6:02 to go in the contest, the Lady Wildcats trailed 39-53. With 2:33 to play, Bethel trimmed the Trevecca lead to 12, 47-59. The Lady Wildcats just could not overcome the Trevecca led and went on to take the season ending loss, 53-69.

For the game, Bethel shot 36.5% connecting on 19 of 52 from the field. From behind the arc, the Lady Wildcats connected on eight of 24 for 33.3% shooting. Bethel made just 12 trips to the charity stripe finishing seven for a cool 58.3%.

The Lady Wildcats were led in scoring by Tristan Johnson (SO/Bolivar, TN), Teena Carter (FR/Milan, TN), and Anna Trull (FR/McKenzie, TN) with 12 points each. Johnson added one rebound and two assists. Carter also had one rebound and one steal. Trull added two rebounds. Erin Meyer (SR/Memphis, TN) finished with seven points and nine rebounds. Lauren Herrera (SR/Dickson, TN) added six assists, five rebounds, and one steal.

The Lady Wildcats finished the season fifth in the TranSouth Athletic Conference with a record of 14-16.
