
Pulaski, Tenn. The Bethel Lady Wildcats led 2-1 in the first match against Freed-Hardeman but could not hold on as the Lady Lions stormed back and won three sets to two to force a decisive final match for the TranSouth Conference Championship Wednesday afternoon in Pulaski.
FHU, with all the momentum they needed beat Bethel 3-0 in that final match and won their third straight conference title.FHU won the first set 25-12 only to see Bethel capture the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-19. Freed-Hardeman took a 13-3 lead in set four and Bethel could never get any closer than five and lost 25-17. FHU won the final set 15-10 to force the final match.
The first set of the final match may have very well decided the final outcome. Bethel led 20-18 only to see FHU score the final seven points of the set to win 25-20. Tied at 20 in the second set, the Lady Lions pulled away to win 25-23. FHU won the final set 25-20 to win the championship. The Lady Lions get the automatic bid to the NAIA National tournament. Playing as tough of a schedule as anyone in the nation Bethel's record dropped to 19-13 on the year.
