MAYFIELD, Ky. (March 27, 2008)-The Bethel College Lady Wildcats won game one, 9-2, and were defeated in game two, 0-3, at Mid-Continent University in Thursday’s TranSouth twin bill. The Lady Wildcats improve to 4-12 (2-8) on the season.

The Lady Wildcats came out swinging in game one. With three singles to start the game, Bethel scored quickly when Emily Thompson (FR/Lexington, TN) knocked the third single allowing Whitney Taylor (JR/Stanton, TN) to reach home. The Lady Wildcats scored again when Hannah Kee (SR/Bruceton, TN) grounded out to second allowing Paige Cooper (SR/Millington, TN) to score from third. With Thompson in scoring position, Lindsey Davis (FR/Lexington, TN) smacked a single to left as Thompson was sent home. The Lady Wildcats scored again when Thompson reached home from Kee’s single to left in the third. Bethel did not allow Mid-Continent to score in the first three innings. In the fourth, the Lady Wildcats went on a scoring rampage picking up five runs in the inning. The first two came from a single, up the middle, by Kee that allowed Cooper and Thompson to score. Davis smacked a single to right which sent Brittany Edmonds (FR/Benton, KY) home and advanced Kee to scoring position on third. Kasey Winsett (FR/Paris, TN) picked up her two RBI for the game when she singled to right moving Kee and Davis home. Mid-Continent posted two runs in the fourth. Neither team scored again and set the score at 9-2. Blair Johnson (JR/Covington, TN) recorded the win. Hannah Kee finished the game with two hits and four RBI. Lindsey Davis added three hits and two RBI. Whitney Taylor finished with three hits. Emily Thompson added two hits.

The Lady Wildcats were shutout in game two. Bethel allowed Mid-Continent three runs in the third and no more. The Lady Wildcats could not answer as Paige Cooper recorded the 0-3 loss. The Lady Wildcats had eight hits in the contest. Emily Thompson, Kasey Winsett, and Laurie Anna Cooley (FR/Covington, TN) picked up two hits each.
