NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The TranSouth Conference's Player of the Week awards for the week ending January 22, 2012, have been released for men's and women's basketball.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Roney of Bethel Named Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jana Roney of Bethel University is the TranSouth Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, January 22, 2012.

Roney, a five-foot-ten forward from Union City, Tenn., averaged a double-double for the Wildcats who were 2-1 on the week. Roney averaged 23.3 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists per game on the week. Her top performance was a 28 point and 13 rebound effort in Bethel's win over Lyon College. Against the Scots Roney was 10-for-17 from the field and hit 8-of-10 from the foul line. Roney scored at least 20 points and 11 rebounds in all three games during the week.

For the week Roney hit 25-of-43 (58%) from the field and hit 19-of-24 (79%) from the foul line.
