
Fitzpatrick, a 6'1", 190 lbs. right hander, played two seasons at Fayette Academy and as a senior, Fitzpatrick had a 5-2 pitching record with a 2.00 earned run average and was named to the all-district team. Fitzpatrick was also a member of the Viking's football team.
During the summers of 2006 and 2007 he played for the Memphis Tigers. In 2007 at SWCC he appeared in 18 games, posting a 2-3 record with one save and 37 strikeouts in 49 innings of work. His best game was against Mississippi Delta when he struck out six batters in a complete game win.
"I look for Colby to come in a take the mound with a chance to win every time out," said Bethel College Head Baseball Coach Rusty Thompson. "He is a top quality starting pitcher and we are looking for big things from him."
This season, he has stepped into the number one pitcher's spot having appeared in eleven games so far. He has logged 48.1 innings of work posting a 5.21 ERA. Fitzpatrick has a high strike out total and ratio. He has struck out 46 batters, averaging .95 strike outs per inning. He is currently 3-2 on the year.
Bethel College plays in the TranSouth Conference of the NAIA. The Wildcats are currently are 25-10 (7-7) on the year.
