MCKENZIE, Tenn. (April 14, 2008) – The Bethel College Lady Wildcats were honored last night at the annual basketball banquet held in the Oasis room at the Student Center on the campus of Bethel College.

The Lady Wildcats were recognized for their academic achievements first. The TranSouth Scholar-Athletes were acknowledged by Assistant Coach Martina Mihailovic. The TranSouth Scholar-Athletes are: Jessica Murphy, Jessie Dennison, Britni Sternard-Griffy, Erin Meyer, Jenna Roney, Jelena Budimir, Meagan Price, Nina Djokovic, and Gretchen Seyerle. The NAIA Scholar-Athletes were recognized as well. These student-athletes are: Jessie Dennison, Jessica Murphy, Britni Sternard-Griffy, Erin Meyer, and Jenna Roney.

The Team Awards were voted on by the Lady Wildcats and were presented by Assistant Coach Holly Knott. Erin Meyer and Jenna Roney both received the Hustle Award for their efforts on the court. The Teammate Award went to Jessica Murphy. Erin Meyer also was awarded with the Best Defender Award.

Head Coach Chris Nelson presented the Statistical Awards. Jelena Budimir received the Best Free Throw Percentage Award (72.2%). Tristan Johnson earned the Best Three-Point Percentage Award (39.2%). The Best Field Goal Percentage Award went to Jenna Roney (51.7%). Nina Djokovic received the Leading Scorer Award (13.32 PPG) and the Leading Rebounder Award (8.25 RPG). The Lady Wildcats' Assists Leader Award went to Lauren Herrera (3.31 APG). Teena Carter earned the Steals Leader Award (1.04 SPG). Jelena Budimir received the Blocks Leader Award (1.18 BPG). Nina Djokovic was also recognized as NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. Erin Meyer was honored as a member of the 500 Rebound Club.
 
Coach Nelson also presented the Amanda Cunningham Lady Wildcat Award honoring former Lady Wildcat standout, Amanda Cunningham. This award is presented to the Lady Wildcat who exhibits hard work, sportsmanship, is a great teammate, and is very coachable. Freshman Anna Trull received the Amanda Cunningham Lady Wildcat Award for her efforts on and off the court.
 

The night ended with a slide-show produced by Jessica Murphy which recognized the Lady Wildcat Seniors and reviewed the year on and off the court.
