JACKSON, Tenn. (April 17, 2008)-The Bethel College Lady Wildcats were defeated 2-3 in game one and 3-4 in game two of the TranSouth twin bill at Union University. The Lady Wildcats are now 9-21 (5-17) on the season as Union improves to 24-13 (15-9).

The Lady Wildcats kept the game close in the first two innings of game one. Neither team scored until the bottom of the third when Union picked up three runs. Bethel held the Lady Bulldogs in the following inning, but did not score. In the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Wildcats added two runs to the board for a one-run deficit. Bethel held Union scoreless for the remainder of the game, but failed to score in the sixth and seventh innings. The score was set at 2-3 in Union's favor and Lady Wildcat Paige Cooper (SR/Millington, TN) chalked up the loss. Blair Johnson (JR/Covington, TN) went one of two from the plate and added two RBI. Brittany Edmonds (FR/Benton, KY) scored one run and went one of three from the plate. Freshman Lindsey Davis (FR/Lexington, TN) connected on one of three at bats.

The same story developed in game two. The Lady Wildcats held Union in the first and second innings while remaining scoreless. Union scored two runs in the third and Bethel answered back with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Lady Wildcats took the lead into the fifth inning and held on until the bottom of the sixth when Union added two runs to the score, setting it at 3-4. Bethel could not answer in the top of the seventh inning as Blair Johnson recorded the loss for the Lady Wildcats. Brittany Edmonds smacked a homerun from two of three at bats while adding two RBI. Lindsey Davis connected for two hits from three tries, including a double, and added one run. Paige Cooper went two of three from the plate. Whitney Taylor (JR/Stanton, TN) scored one run from one hit out of three tries.

The Bethel College Lady Wildcats will host Cumberland University (Tenn.) on Saturday, April 19^th at 11AM for a double-header on Lady Wildcat Field in McKenzie, TN.
