MCKENZIE, Tenn. (April 18, 2008)-The Bethel College men's basketball team was honored recently at the season's annual basketball banquet held in the Oasis Room on the campus of Bethel College Friday night.

Antoine Lesesene was awarded the Best Two-Point Field Goal Percentage Award at 53.9%. He was also recognized for being named to the TranSouth All-Conference Second Team. From the three-point line, Hrvoje Devcic shot 43.3% on the season and took home the Best Three-Point Field Goal Percentage Award. The Best Free Throw Percentage Award went to Clint Blackburn. Blackburn shot 83.7% from the charity stripe. Leroy Bell led the Wildcats in steals for the season picking up 1.1 per game and took home the Most Steals Award. Bell was also ranked 5th in NAIA DI for assists per game averaging 5 per game and was awarded the Most Assists Award. Derek Demaree grabbed 184 rebounds on the season for the Wildcats with an average of 5.9 per game and earned the Most Rebounds Award. Demaree added the Most Charges Award to his collection as he picked up 22 charges on the season. Leroy Bell was awarded for leading in the deflections category with 86 on the season and 2.7 per contest.

Clint Blackburn received the Most Improved Player Award for the 2007-2008 season as Brennen Ward took home the Wildcat Award.

Academically, Derek Demaree was recognized for having the highest grade point average on the team, earning TranSouth Conference Scholar-Athlete honors, and earning Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. Other TranSouth Scholar-Athletes recognized were: Clint Blackburn, Hrvoje Devcic, Daniel Doyle, Brian French, and Otakar Schober.
 

"I have enjoyed coaching this team this season, we have become a more competitive team in the TranSouth Athletic Conference and I hope we continue to improve each time we step on the playing floor.  We are going to miss our departing seniors, we want to wish them well in their careers outside of basketball," stated Head Coach Jeff Britt. 

Mrs. Robby Lindsey was honored with the Fan Appreciation Award. A Special Thanks from Wildcats' Head Coach Jeff Britt goes out to the following: Dr. Robert Prosser and the Bethel College administration; all the Wildcats' family members; Bethel College maintenance staff; cafeteria staff; Bethel College athletic trainers; all area media outlets; Bethel College office of Sports Information; Bethel College cheerleaders; home game staff; Brandon Kilburn-volunteer public address announcer; assistant coaches-Adam Hensley, Craig Stephens, and Aaron Johnson; Coach Britt's wife and three children; and anyone not mentioned who has helped the Wildcats throughout the season in any way.
