MCKENZIE, Tenn. (May 5, 2008) – Good pitching is always hard to find. But, this time the Bethel baseball coaches didn't have to look very far. The Wildcats got some much needed pitching depth for next year with the signing on McKenzie High School standout Clint Kee. Clint is the son of Tina and Steve Kee; his brother Benji also attended the signing.

Kee was happy to get the process over saying, "It feels good, the pressure is off. Hopefully I can focus on helping my team get back to Murfreesboro (State tournament)."

"We're extremely excited to sign another talented ball player from the local community. Clint knows how to win, has intangibles that you can't teach," said Bethel College Head Coach Rusty Thompson. "He has control of his breaking ball and can throw it at any point in the count. We will have some holes to fill coming into next season and I hope Clint is going to fill some of those needs."

Kee has some signature wins this season against JCS and Huntingdon and played Class AA power Lexington close. Kee is 7-2 on the year with an ERA of 1.00. He averages 10 strike outs per game and 1.9 walks.

Kee, who also played on the McKenzie football team that played for the state championship, stated that, "I think the success in football carried over to baseball and helped my confidence. I like the pressure, getting the ball and taking the mound every five days or so."

"He's the ace of our staff. The team plays better when he pitches; Clint's confidence is infectious to the whole team," said Head Coach Lynn Yarborough. "He hits his spots even in pressure situations. He pitches ahead in the count and is good at keeping his location low in the strike zone. If he has to throw a strike, there's a 99% chance he is going to throw it. Clint deserves his chance to play at the collegiate level and I congratulate him."

Even Kee's former coach was on hand. Jeremy Maddox coached Clint and was the skipper of the state championship team in 2006. "Everything he has gotten to this point he has earned it. He was a competitor for the first day on the team and always wants the ball against the better teams."

Bethel plays baseball in the TranSouth Conference of the NAIA. This past season, the Wildcats went 31-17.
