MCKENZIE, Tenn. (May 12, 2008) – The Bethel College men's tennis cruised into the second round of the NAIA National Tournament in Mobile, Ala. with a 9-0 blanking of Bethany College (Kan.).

Bethel opened with a sweep of the double matches. Number one doubles, Fernando Bocchese and Thiago Oliveria defeated M. Dejong and B. Bietau 8-3. Gustavo Hoewell and Augusto Velez won over J. Feyerherm and J. Garcia 8-6. Fernando Ristow and Andres Mejia completed the sweep winning 8-0 over A. Hambleton and D. Watson.

Bethel continued to dominate in singles action as number one Bocchese won 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 over Hambleton. Ristow cruised 6-3, 6-1 over R. Yamamoto. Mejia 6-1, 6-2 over Bietau; Hoewell made easy work of S. Verloop 6-1, 6-1; Oliveria also won easily over Feyerherm 6-1, 6-1; Valez completed the shutout win for the Wildcats with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Garcia.

Bethel will face #5 California Baptist University on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 1:00pm. California Baptist is 15-4 on the year, Bethel is 15-1.
