McKenzie, Tenn. -The Bethel Wildcats had not lost a TranSouth Athletic Conference soccer match since September 24, 2008 entering Wednesday's play against Martin Methodist in McKenzie. In fact, the last team to beat the Wildcats in league play was MMU winning on that date 3-0. The RedHawks scored two first period goals and added a second period score to beat the Wildcats 3-0 and snap Bethel's long and amazing win streak. It was Bethel's first conference home loss since the 2007 season.
Juan Madrigal scored the first period goals and Jermaine Steele scored a late goal to snap a RedHawk two game losing streak. Bethel outshot the visitors 10-8 with both squads having four shots on goal.
The Wildcats fell to 6-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference. MMU improved to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. The two squads meet again October 23 in Pulaski. Bethel is back in action Saturday hosting Freed-Hardeman at 3 p.m.
