MCKENZIE, Tenn. (June 19, 2008) - The Bethel College men's basketball team has added Dane MacDonald a 6'4", 200 lbs. guard from Sebastian, Fla. to the 2008-'09 recruiting class. He is the son of Nancy and Eugene MacDonald.

MacDonald has played the last two years at Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Fla. While there, MacDonald helped lead Indian River to two straight Southern Florida Community College Championships and to the state semi-finals. He averaged eight points per game.

Prior to playing at Indian River, MacDonald played at Sebastian River High School in Florida where he scored over 1,000 points and was named All-Area and All-Conference.

"We are pleased to announce the signing of Dane," said Bethel College Head Coach Jeff Britt. "He has tremendous experience playing on two conference championships teams in the tough Florida Community College Conference. He has good size and skills to help our team over the next two seasons. We look forward to having his presence within our program."

MacDonald plans on majoring in Business Administration.

MacDonald believes the strengths he brings to the team are his hard play, shooting and ball handling abilities, decision making and his basketball smarts. But, he added that he looks to improve his entire game while at Bethel.

MacDonald was also recruited by Averett University in Danville, Va. and Limestone University in Gaffney, S.C.

Bethel competes in the NAIA and the TranSouth Athletic Conference.
