
Townsend a 5'10" left handed striker played at Fred J Page High School. Andrea helped her team to a fourth place finish this past year. Her team at Page was the District and Regional champions all four years she played and was sectional champions the past two seasons. She made All-Season, All-District and All-Region her senior season. She was the second highest scorer on her team this past year.
Her junior year she had 73 kills, 35 aces and 13 blocks. This past year she had 205 kills, 62 aces, 20 blocks and 287 points. On June 21st, 2008, she played in the TACA Senior All-Star match (East vs. West), where she helped her team win, with a few blocks and the final kill of the match.
"She will help us out as a left-handed striker from the right side," said Head Coach Calhoun. "It will be nice to have her step up and take that spot for us this fall. She has been part of a strong high school program and has great experience. She is also a good student in the classroom and will make a nice addition to our team."
Townsend graduated with honors, was a member of Mu Alpha Theta and was the Executive Officer in JROTC. She plans on majoring in accounting. She is active in her church serving on a mission trip to Jamaica in 2006, and will be serving on another mission trip this summer (June 25-July 9th) in Mazatlan.
Bethel competes in the NAIA and the TranSouth Athletic Conference.
