McKenzie, Tenn. –Mady Kate Gantt of Tipton Rosemark Academy has signed with the Bethel University Softball program. She is the daughter of David Gantt of Munford, Tennessee and Amy Easley of Covington, Tennessee. She plans to major in Special Education this fall.
The Centerfielder/ Utility has started for her team as a lead-off hitter in every game since her freshman year. She was named Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012. She was also selected All-Region in 2010, 2011, and 2012. TRA won the Tennessee state title in 2011 and was in the Final Four in 2012. Gantt hit .581 in 2012 and led her squad in batting average, stolen bases, hits, runs, and OBP.
She feels her strengths are her speed, aggressive base running, and versatility in the field and at bat.
She chose Bethel because of her major, the Christian atmosphere, and Coach Geraldi and the softball program. She also considered Union University, Blue Mountain and several other schools.
Coach Larry Geraldi commented on the newest Lady Wildcat. "Mady Kate is a great addition to our program. She will bring excellent speed, determination, aggressiveness, and a strong will to win to our program and her speed makes her a tremendous outfielder. We look forward to watching her develop her talents during the next four years."
