(MCKENZIE, Tenn., August 30, 2008) - The Wildcats' soccer team couldn't follow up their amazing performance against the number ranked Azusa Pacific University Cougars in their second match against Westmont College (Calf.) The ‘Cats took an early lead against the Warriors of Westmont College (Cal.) but couldn't hold on as Westmont scored five unanswered goals.

The Wildcats scored both of their goals within a three minute period. Dwayne Smith scored in the seventeenth minute on a low shot to the far post from 12 feet away. Smith figured into another goal in the twentieth minute when he crossed the ball from the left side to Steven Short who was able to score on one touch for a quick 2-0 lead. Both goals were the first of the year and for their careers at Bethel.

But, the Warriors scored in the 39th minute to make it 2-1 at the half. Then Westmont seemed to regroup as they scored four goals in the second half to take the 5-2 win.

Bethel goaltender Collu-Marchese had six saves but allowed five goals in the loss.

After returning from California the Wildcats will next see action on September 9, 2008 against Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn. at 4:00pm.
