MCKENZIE, Tenn. (October 11, 2008) - The Bethel Lady Wildcats soccer team picked up a very important conference win as they defeated the visiting Lady Bulldogs of Union University 2-0. The Lady ‘Cats used a strong second half scoring twice to secure the win.
 

A defensive battle in the first half, Bethel only managed three shots to Union's five. But Bethel goalkeeper Tashana Taylor was up to the task denying the Lady Bulldogs any scores.

The second half became more physical after Philisha Lewis scored at 55:54. It was Lewis' eighth goal of the year and third of the week. Then the game turned physical as a yellow card was shown for each team at the 62:54 mark. Then Union was given another yellow just two minutes later at 65:10. The Lady ‘Cats got the cushion they needed as Florence Iweta scored on an assist by DeAnna Flores at 68:19. The rough play wasn't finished as Union was handed another yellow card at 85:25.

The win gets the Lady Wildcats to 4-5-1 on the season and more importantly 2-1 in the TranSouth Conference putting them in sole possession of third. They will be in action on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 12:00pm in a conference match with anther Lady Bulldog team, this time from Cumberland University. Cumberland is 4-6-1 and 0-3 in the conference.
