MEMPHIS, Tenn. (October 12, 2008) - Bethel played fall baseball in the Nostalgia Man Classic at AutoZone Park in Memphis, home of the Memphis Redbirds the AAA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. The Wildcats came away from the wood bat classic with mixed results. On Saturday, Bethel defeated LaMoyne-Owen 10-0 but lost to Christian Brothers University on Sunday 4-3.

On Saturday, Bethel got a stellar pitching performance from newcomer Billy Keck. Keck went four innings allowing only one hit. His effort was backed up by John Patterson and Glenn "Bugs" Smith who each tossed one scoreless and hitless inning. The offense was provided by Heath Sharp, Andrew Maddox and Dustin Blakney as each had two RBIs. Tyler Newman, Jake Ramsey, Sharp and Jay Lowery each had a double in the 10-0 win.

On Sunday, Bethel starter Chris Crenshaw was roughed up in the bottom of the second inning for four runs all scored with two outs. But, he settled in and David Rodriguez came in and threw three scoreless innings. Bethel staged a comeback effort starting with one run in the fourth and a two RBI hit by Sharp in the fifth. But, the Wildcats couldn't push across another run in the final two innings.
