Mobile, Ala. (October 16, 2008) - Bethel College men's tennis player Fernando Ristow won his opening round match 6-1, 6-1 over Kevin Bourdin of Lindenwood University (Mo.) to advance to the quarterfinals. Ristow was the number four seed coming into the tournament. Women's team member Ayda Ardila, the third seed, won in straight sets over Germania Bedon of Taylor University (Ind.) 6-0, 6-4 advancing to the quarterfinals. She also advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles as she and her partner Juliana Costa (third seeds) won 6-3, 6-1.

Ristow will play the number one seeded Remy Caffardo from Graceland University (Iowa) at 10:30am. Ardila plays unseeded Paige McKinney of Bethel College (Ks.) at 8:30am. McKinney defeated the second seed in three sets. Ardila and Costa will be in doubles action at 12:00pm against Maria Klokotzky and Katia Sabate of Fresno Pacific University, the number two seeds.
