MCKENZIE, Tenn. (October 18, 2008) - The men's soccer team got Saturday's Homecoming games off to a positive start as they defeated the Freed-Hardeman Lions 1-0. Bethel used the same plan it has for its previous three wins; get a goal and then play stellar defense.

Bethel kept the pressure on the Lions for the majority of the afternoon, outshooting them 21-4. But, Bethel just kept narrowing missing. Then 28:25 into the match, Erick Rosas put away his third goal of the season on an assist from Mario Villa Boa. After that it was the defensive work of Joseph Omondi, Keith Brown and Omar Apodaca along with goal keeper Massimo Collu-Marchese that preserved the win. For Collu-Marchese it was his fifth shoutout of the season.

Bethel's win puts their overall record at 8-5-1 and 5-1 in the conference. The Wildcats are tied for first place in the TranSouth Conference. They will host Lee University on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 2:00pm.
