Bethel got on the board in the first half when Marika Fukuta lobbed a ball over the Freed goal keeper who was playing a too far out. It was especially exciting for Fukuta as her parents from Japan were on hand to see her play. After a hand ball in the box, DeAnna Flores nailed the penalty kick for a 2-0 halftime lead.
At halftime, the six departing seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program. Coach Misty Aird talked about each player and their contributions to the program. She also said that all six were on track to graduate. This will be the last season for Sarah Halsall, Florence Iweta, Philisha Lewis, Kendall Nuffer, Chelsea Wilkerson and DeAnna Flores
Kendall Nuffer scored two goals 10 minutes apart as she netted the first at 52:04 on an assist from fellow senior Halsall. Her second goal came at 62:03 unassisted. Another senior Iweta scored Bethel's fourth at 71:74 with an assist from Tashonia Dewar.
The win puts Bethel's overall record to 6-5-1 and 4-1 in the TranSouth conference. The Lady Wildcats will be in action on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 3:00pm as they host #20 Lindenwood University (Mo.).
