MCKENZIE, Tenn. (November 11, 2008) - The Lady Wildcats soccer team won a thrilling semi-final game against the Pipers of Lyon College to advance to the TranSouth Conference Championship against #3 Martin Methodist College. With the game tied 0-0 at the end of regulation, Bethel senior DeAnna Flores blasted a 30 yard winner for the victory.
 

Bethel was definitely in control, but could not get a goal in regulation. In the first half, the Lady Wildcats out shot Lyon 6-0 with one shot on goal in the first half. Bethel would shoot four more times with one on goal in the second while the defense continued to hold Lyon. The Pipers were only able to take three shots and got one on goal.

At halftime, TranSouth Conference award winner were recognized. Earning TranSouth All-Academic honors were Kimmarley Chin, Marika Fukuta, DeAnna Flores, Florence Iweta, Philisha Lewis, Kendall Nuffer, Candace Salcido, Tashana Taylor and Chelsea Wilkerson. Selected Second Team All-Conference was Kimmarley Chin. First Team All-Conference selections were Philisha Lewis, Jordan Nuffer and Marika Fukuta.

That sent the game into overtime 0-0. Kendall Nuffer had a good opportunity at 97:17 but her shot sailed wide. Enter Flores just 22 seconds later as she sent a rocket from the middle of the field, 30 yards out to the left hand corner of the net for the winner.

Bethel will play in the Championship game in Pulaski, Tenn. on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 12:00pm. Bethel lost in the regular season to the Lady RedHawks of Martin Methodist 2-0 on September 26, 2008.
