
The Bethel College Lady Wildcat soccer team was victorious in dominant fashion against TranSouth conference foe Lyon College of Batesville, Ark., winning 5-0. Bethel improves to 11-2 on the season and 6-1 in TranSouth Conference action.
Leah O’Grady got the Lady Wildcats on the board with an unassisted goal in the 19th minute. It was O’Grady’s twentieth goal of the season and leaves her six shy of 100 for her career. With 94 goals, she is currently 11th All-time in the NAIA. The NAIA All-time goal soccer is Juliana Filipe of Union College (Ky.) with 145 goals from 1998-01.
Philisha Lewis who scored a hat trick in her last game netted the second goal of the afternoon in the 28th minute on assists from O’Grady and Toni Smith. The Lady Wildcats took a 3-0 lead to the break as Florence Iweta scored in the 40th minute.
Bethel kept the offensive pressure on in the second half as DeAnna Flores scored in the 49th minute for a 4-0 lead. Lewis wasn’t finished as she scored her second of the game in the 72nd minute and a 5-0 advantage.
The Lady Wildcats are currently ranked #14 in the nation and await the new poll on Wednesday, October, 10, 2007.
