
Against Lindsey Wilson, Bethel slowly opened a six point lead and then made a huge push beginning at 14:01 as they went on an 8-0 run. First a bucket by Lanicka Smith, followed by Nina Djokovic, Teena Carter and another by Djokovic had the Lady Wildcats playing in front. But, the Lady Blue Raiders showed why they are getting national attention going on an 8-0 to close the first half as Bethel held onto a four point advantage. Djokovic was a force inside as she posted 10 points in the first.
Lindsey Wilson continued as the second half opened with six unanswered points to take a 2-point lead. The lead would see-saw for the next seven minutes. Then, the Lady Wildcats started a rain storm of threes. Four on the next five baskets would come from behind the arch as Bethel took a seven point lead with 2:46 left on Anna Trull's fourth three ball of the game. Holding a seven point lead, the Lady Wildcats were able to hold off the Lady Blue Raiders, to win by eight. Trull led the lady ‘Cats with 17 points. Trull was also doing it on the defensive side of the ball, leading the team with five steals. Djokovic posted 14 pints to go with six rebounds. Carter had eight points and six boards. Joanna Ortiz had seven points. Kashundria Berry, Jelena Budamir and Smith each had six points.
It appeared as though the Bethel was poised to make a statement on the national scene against another team receiving votes in the NAIA poll. Two times in the first half the Lady ‘Cats made runs to get some separation from the Lady Tigers of Campbellsville. With the game tied at 13:57, Bethel went on a 6-0 run as Carter and Djokovic hit both their free throws and Smith added a basket. The Lady Tigers would cut into the lead and deadlock the contest again at 5:11 in the first. Then Djokovic completed an old fashioned three point play, Smith added two, Ortiz hit a couple of freebies and Smith added two more for a 9-0 run. Campbellsville would get one point back before the half as Bethel led 37-29. Djokovic dropped in 11 points in the first frame going 3 of 4 from the floor and was perfect from the line 5 of 5.
Early in the second, Bethel took the biggest lead of the game on Ortiz's three pointer and a twelve point advantage. Leading by 10 with 11:21 remaining, Campbellsville chipped away at Bethel's lead and in seven minutes, had the game knotted up. The Lady ‘Cats would go ahead by one with 1:13 remaining, then enter the Lady Tigers Wendi Messer. Messer hit a three ball with :52 left to give Campbellsville a one point lead. Djokovic hit a couple of free throws to tie the game with 22 seconds on the clock. With three ticks left, Messer hit another three ball to take the win 78-75.
Djokovic scored 18 with nine rebounds. Carter added 13 with nine boards. Ortiz had 10 points, Tristian Johnson had nine points, Trull had six and Smith had six.
