The Bethel College men’s soccer team won their sixth straight TranSouth Conference game over Lyon College, 2-0. Two early goals were enough to propel the Wildcats to a victory.
Bethel got two early goals from Armando Orozco in the first half and a strong defensive effort made it stick. Orozco scored his first goal in the sixth minute with an assist from Sean Fraser. A mere four minutes later Orozco found the net again in the 10th minute of an assist by Felix Olale. The Wildcats had many more chances as they registered ten shots on net but could not squeeze one in the goal.
The defense was just as effective as the ‘Cats only allowed Lyon three shots on goal. The current TranSouth and Region XI men’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week, goaltender Andrew Pennycook, stopped all the shots he faced for the shutout win.
During halftime, the 2007 seniors were recognized for their contributions to the Wildcat soccer program.
