McKenzie, TN (October 11, 2007) – The Bethel College Lady Wildcats defeated Cumberland University (Tenn.) 3-1 (33-31; 30-27; 27-30; 30-19) on Wednesday night in Lebanon, TN and Lambuth University (Tenn.) 3-1 (30-23; 30-28; 15-30; 30-24) at home on Thursday night to earn two crucial TranSouth wins. The Lady Wildcats improve to 9-12 (5-6) as Cumberland falls to 18-13 (5-9) and Lambuth slips to 6-14 (3-9) on the season.
In the match against Cumberland University, Lisa Gaddie (SR/Memphis, TN) had three aces, 10 block assists, 15 digs, and 41 assists. Brittany Weller (SR/Glendale, AZ) recorded 28 attacks, three solo blocks, and 15 block assists. Junior Lisa Sellers (Brighton, TN) picked up 29 attacks and 16 digs. Michele Cunha (SO/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) posted 30 service receives and 16 digs. Jessica Vieira (FR/Matozinhos, Brazil) had 22 kills from 58 attacks in the win.
At home against Lambuth, Cunha produced two aces, 54 service receives, and 36 digs. Vieira picked up 40 attacks and 15 kills. Sellers recorded 39 attacks, 13 kills, and two solo blocks. Brittany Weller finished the match with 31 attacks, 13 kills, and 16 block assists. Gaddie added two aces, 23 digs, and 46 assists.
In the two matches, the Lady Wildcats totaled 286 attacks, 224 digs, 184 service receives, 106 kills, 100 assists, and 99 block assists.
