MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (02.14.09) - Keith Hawkins continued his successful march to the NAIA National, winning his 55 meter dash heat in the preliminaries with a time of 6.45 seconds. That time placed him in the finals where he took sixth place in the Middle Tennessee State University meet. Hawkins also won his heat in the 200 meter dash, taking third overall. Hawkins remains ranked eleventh in the NAIA in the 60 meter dash and will be running at East Tennessee State University on March 5 - 7, 2009 as well as in the 200 meter dash.
Deserey Washington took second place in the 55 meter dash heat with a personal best of 7.23, putting her in the finals. She took third over in the meet. With her time of 7.23 seconds she is ranked seventh in the NAIA and will be going to the national track meet in at ETSU in March.
"All runners ran very well again and are getting better each week," said Head Coach Matt Aird. "They are all ready for the outdoor season to begin when we open at Austin Peay State University. I look forward to the kids to continue to improve and hope to have more of our runners qualify for the outdoor track nationals."
