MCKENZIE, Tenn. (02.25.09) - The Bethel College men's tennis team defeated The University of North Alabama 7-1 in their first match of the 2009 season. Bethel was 2-1 in doubles and 5-1 in singles in taking the victory.
 

Number one doubles Fernando Ristow and Andres Mejia lost to Jan Miskos and Christoffer Sodemann 9-7. The number two doubles team of Amarit Sanchez and Gustavo Hoewell defeated Reed Pilling and Carlos Cardenas 8-2. Number three doubles Luke Newbold and Bill Robertson won by default.

In single's action, number one Fernando Ristow lost the first game but rebounded winning the next two to defeat Jan Miskos 4-6, 6-1, 7-6. Number two Andres Mejia beat Christoffer Sodemann 6-1, 6-3. Newcomer Amarit Sanchez playing number three won over Reed Pilling 6-0, 6-3. Number four Gustavo Hoewell defeated Carlos Cardenas 6-4, 6-3. Number five Luke Newbold lost after winning the first set to Clint Johnson 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. In the sixth position Bill Robertson won by default.

The Wildcats are 1-0 to begin their 2009 season and will be getting ready for their Spring Break matches beginning March 9, 2009.
