JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (03.07.09) - Bethel had two runners qualify for the 2009 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Keith Hawkins and Deseray Washington qualified earlier in the season for the championship. Hawkins qualified for the 60 meter and 200 meter dash. Washington qualified for the 60 meter dash.
Hawkins ran a 6.93 in the 60 meter dash, which was good enough for 18th in the nation but did not qualify him for the final heat. In the 200 meter preliminaries, he ran a 22.51 good enough for 21st in the nation.
Washington ran a 7.76 in the 60 meter dash, good enough for 8th place and narrowly missing the final heat.
Bethel will now get ready for the 2009 outdoor track season. The NAIA Championships will be held in Edwardsville, Ill. from May 21-23, 2009.
