MCKENZIE, Tenn. (04.24.09) - The Lady Wildcats sent their seniors off with a couple of wins at home in the final games of the regular season. Brittany Edmonds blasted a 2-run walk off homer in the bottom of the ninth giving Bethel a 5-3 victory in extra innings. Bethel plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth in game two, claiming a 3-1 win. Leah Hensley won both of the games; she relieved Johnson to pick with the win in game one and was the starter in game two.
Bethel held an early lead in game one, then scratched out a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game before winning the ninth. Amanda Renfroe led off the second inning with a single to left. In the bottom of the seventh, Whitney Taylor led off the inning with a heads up play. Her fly ball went to shallow center field. The center fielder could not get to it; the shortstop gave chase along with the second baseman leaving no one covering second. Taylor saw what was happening and never hesitated as she went all the way to second. Burlison grounded out, but moved Taylor to third. Lindsey Davis singled and Taylor scored to tie the game.
With two out in the bottom of the ninth, L. Davis walked and Edmonds launched her third homer of the week, this time ending the game in dramatic fashion for the 5-3 win.

Between games, Head Coach Larry Geraldi and the Lady Wildcats team honored out-going seniors Blaire Johnson and Whitney Taylor. He commented on how much they had meant to the program and that they would return next season as student assistants.
In game two, Bethel had to come back again for the win. Cumberland scored a run in the fourth, but Hensley did a good job of limiting the damage. In the bottom of the sixth, Burlison led off with a walk and stole second; L. Davis singled, moving Burlison to third and then stole second. Edmonds walked to the load the bases. Simmons grounded out to the pitcher; Burlison scored. Renfroe grounded out and L. Davis scored. Then Johnson followed with a liner to center field, scoring Edmonds.
