PULASKI, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats scored a season low 63 points and fell at Martin Methodist Thursday night 80-63. It marked the first time all season Bethel did not have two or more players score in double figures. The Wildcats fell to 18-9 overall and 9-8 in the SSAC. MMC is 19 -8 and 13-4. Martin Methodist has won five in a row and nine of their last ten games.
Coach Jeff Britt said, "We just could not hit shots tonight. Credit Martin Methodist with some of that. Their defense forced us out of our game plan and we never recovered all night. We actually took one more shot than they did and rebounds were close enough to compete but shooting was the problem." He added, "We have a short turn around and we better recover because Loyola is really playing well."
Bethel was 22-of-73 from the field for just 30 percent. The Cats hit just three three-pointers out of nineteen attempts for a season low 15 percent. They were 16-of-24 from the free throw line. They were out rebounded by the RedHawks 51-47. MMC actually had two more turnovers than Bethel at 15-13. David Fraser was the only Wildcat in double figures with 11 points.
MMC was 32-of-72 from the field at 44 percent. They hit 11 three's in the game. Four of their five starters scored in double figures with Will Smith leading the Hawks with 18 points. He added ten rebounds for the double-double.
