MCKENZIE,
Tenn. (05.27.09) - Fresh off their second-ever NAIA National Tournament
Appearance, Bethel has added Houston County standout infielder Erin Roper. The honor student from Erin, Tenn. is the
daughter of Mark and Stephanie Riceman and Kevin Roper.
2009 awards were not available at press time, but Roper was
the team captain at Houston County in 2008 and started all four years for the
Fighting Irish. Also in 2008 she was
earned the team's Offensive Award and was 10A All-District. In addition to playing at Houston County, she
played travel ball for the Clarksville Heat and Katz.
In 2008, Roper hit .362 with an on base percentage of
.465. She considers her defense her
greatest strength. Although a consistent
hitter, she would like to improve her power numbers while at Bethel.
This past season the Fighting Irish was District 10A
Champions and Region 5A runner-up. In
2008 and 2006, they were District runner-up and a regional qualifier.
Roper is also an excellent student with a 3.8 GPA and will
graduate with honors. She was also named
Miss Houston County High School.
Roper was also being recruited by Cumberland University, but
chose Bethel because she knew it was the place for her when she visited campus
and met with Head Coach Larry Geraldi.
While at Bethel, Roper
plans on majoring in Biology.
