PULASKI, Tenn. –After drubbing Martin Methodist in the first two games of their three game series the Bethel Wildcats could not overcome an 8-0 deficit falling to the RedHawks 11-7 Friday afternoon in Pulaski. Bethel's winning streak was snapped at five.
MMC scored two runs in the first, two runs in the second and four runs in the third. They added a single run in the fourth and two runs in the eighth.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the fourth and climbed back in the game with a three-run fifth. The Cats added two runs in the sixth but fell short in the end.
MMC outhit the Wildcats 11-7. Bethel had opportunities but left 11 men on base.
Bethel offensive highlights included a three-run home run by Christian Padin and a two-run shot by Gabriel Matias. Kendall Adkisson drove in two runs while Clayton Parker had one RBI.
Cody Ladner took the loss while Alex Vanderford picked up the MMC win.
The SSAC championships begin next week in Montgomery. The Wildcats enter the field as a No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seeded Mobile Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. The Rams won two of three games played in a three game set between the teams in McKenzie earlier in April.
The four day, double-elimination tournament will take place May 3-6 at Paterson Field in Montgomery, Alabama. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the 2017 NAIA Baseball World Series.
