MCKENZIE, Tenn. (06.04.09) - The Bethel baseball program picked up some pitching help for the 2009-10 year with the addition of Dyersburg State's Rusty Edwards. The Smyrna, Tenn. native chose Bethel over Lambuth University, Union University, Lindenwood University and Trevecca Nazarene University. He is the son of Connie and Ronnie Edwards.
Edwards a right handed hurler was All-District his senior season at Smyrna High School. His team was district champions his senior year. This past season at Dyersburg State his team finished state runner-up.
Edwards sees one of his strengths in being a leader by example and the effort his puts into his craft. While at Bethel he wants to increase velocity on his fast ball, increase his movement on his off speed pitches and get more control of his change up and splitter.
He plans on majoring in Criminal Justice.
