CHS Coach Kevin Thompson, Derek Bird, Lisa and Greg Bird
MCKENZIE, Tenn. (06.18.09) - The Wildcats baseball team has signed Derek Bird to the 2009-10 class. Bird, a utility infielder, played for the Rockets at Clarksburg High School. He is the son of Greg and Lisa Bird.
Bird plays behind the plate and the corners at first and third. In his career at Clarksburg he is a .478 hitter with 12 homers and 62 RBI. He was All-District in 2008 and '09 and was a member of the 2009 West Tennessee All-Star Team.
Bird is proud that his team finished second in the district and advanced to the Region Tournament this past season. He looks to improve on his hitting while playing for Bethel.
Bird graduated seventh in his class and won multiple awards at Clarksburg. He earned the Science Award, Math Award and the Economic Award.
