MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats met No. 19 John Brown University Saturday in their 2017 home opener at Wildcat Stadium. The Wildcats routed the Golden Eagles 6-0.

Mustapha Wadda (SO/Bracknell, England) scored his fourth goal of the season on the assist from Kebba Demba (SR/Tyler, TX) with a strike at the 20:15 mark of the first period to give Bethel a 1-0 lead. Demba followed with a score at the 10:31 mark on an assist from Wadda to give Bethel a 2-0 advantage. Ahmad Saidy (JR/Atlanta, GA) scored on an assist from Jaiquan Bristol (JR/Hampshire, England) with three minutes left in the period and the Cats took a 3-0 lead. Bethel held that margin at the end of the period.

Goals by Wadda, Demba and Leonardo Ferreira (FR/Sorocaba, Brazil) in the second period gave Bethel the 6-0 victory. Luke Sellers (SR/Yorkshire, England) and Saidy were also credited with assists.

Bethel outshot the visitors 18-7 and had a 9-3 advantage on shots on goal.

The Wildcats improved 3-0 on the season. JBU fell to 0-2. 

Bethel will play host to LSU –Alexandria Sunday at 4 p.m.

After the LSU-A affair the Wildcats hit the road for three straight games.  They begin the three game road swing with a 7:30 showdown against Freed-Hardeman Thursday in Henderson.
