HENDERSON, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats continued their hot start to the season with a 1-0 win at Freed-Hardeman Thursday night. Bethel remained unbeaten at 5-0 while FHU fell to 2-3. The 5-0 start is the best for a Lady Wildcat soccer squad since 2002.

The Lady Wildcats won on a first period goal by Melinda Sopka. The assist was by Janine Dennis. FHU had a 10-9 advantage in shots but Danielle Krzyzaniak was credited with six saves in the shutout. It was the second straight 1-0 win for Bethel and with Sopka scoring the winning goal.

Bethel has won all five games by one goal. It was the third shutout of the season for Krzyzaniak and the Bethel defense.

Coach Misty Aird commented, "I am really proud of these young ladies. They continue to work hard and find a way to win these close games."

Bethel travels to Lyon College Saturday for an 11 a.m. affair.
